What Is Search Engine Optimization/SEO?

Search Engine Optimization/SEO is the process of getting traffic from the “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” listings on search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing and so on. All major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing have such results, where web pages and other content such as videos and local listings are shown and ranked based on what the search engine considers most relevant to users. Payment is not involved, as it is with paid search ads.

Mainstream SEOs Now Talking About Google Sandbox 2.0

About a month ago, I saw some early discussions within communities more blackhat SEO on a Google Sandbox 2.0, which Google began targeting possibly beat and burn sites ranking well. That conversation is now creeping into the mainstream SEO forums outside the blackhat forums.

As I said then, the Google Sandbox is a term coined in 2004 when SEOs and webmasters began to notice their new sites were not ranking as quickly as it used to. In short, the new site got put in a sandbox, where he waited until be located.

That has not been much talk over the years but there are always some webmasters and SEOs who updated. The truth is that new sites may rank fast in Google these days, if they meet the requirements of the algorithms of Google.

But now, it seems to have arisen over again. Until I asked about Mueller of Google Sandbox and said it would be a good thing, not confirm or deny any way.

The conversation is being discussed in a mainstream forum SEO / webmaster at WebmasterWorld.

I know many of you doubt the Sandbox ever existed, but it did, in my opinion. If I had to guess, Google launched an algorithm that may resemble the old litter box in the last two months.

Wondering if anyone sees any update or rollback happening with respect to Pigeon. I can not tell if this is a cache problem or just part of the whole display continuously updated, resulting in some inconsistencies.
It seems as if there was an update of some sorts.

Google Payday Loan Algorithm 2.0 Launched

Google has confirmed that they have launched a new algorithm update to their Payday Loan algorithm updating for this weekend.

This algorithm is specifically aimed at " very spam queries " and not related algorithms Panda or Penguin. A spokesman for Google said:

The weekend started rolling out a new algorithmic update. The update was not Panda or Penguin - it was the next generation of an algorithm that initially launched last summer to queries very spam.

This comes with no surprise to most SEOs and webmasters who see space. There was a tremendous rumors and signal of a major upgrade of the weekend , intensifying in the past couple days as webmasters began to look at their analysis and updating has continued to roll through Google.

The original algorithm Payday Loan up almost a year ago , on June 11, 2013. At the time, Matt Cutts of Google said the algorithm impacted roughly 0.3 % of U.S. queries but Matt said it was as high as 4 %  for Turkish queries, where Spam web is usually higher.

Google told us this specific update is an international roll-out and affects different languages in varying degrees, but this affects queries in English by about 0.2 % to a noticeable degree. Here is a copy of the video when Matt Cutts of Google announced the update was coming back in 2013:

Google Rolls Out Major Panda 4.0 SEO Update

Panda 4.0

Last day was pretty wild, with Google confirming an update over the weekend targeting spammy queries and also Google's Matt Cutts posting on Twitter that Panda 4.0 was released.
This is a new Panda algorithm, not a refresh that we've seen almost monthly but enough for Google to name this 4.0, which means a new algorithm update to it.

Google's Matt Cutts told us at Search Engine Land that this Panda 4.0 update impacts ~7.5% of English queries to a degree that a regular user might notice.

Also when I spoke to Matt Cutts, he made it sound like this update may appear gentler for some sites but it does lay the groundwork to future changes in the direction of a softer and gentler Panda algorithm.

This began rolling out yesterday and is unrelated to the Google Spam Algorithm 2.0 released over the weekend and unrelated to anything Penguin.

So no, I was not crazy expecting something big that happened over the weekend and throughout the month and this week. Even though Google said nothing is going on, we've been seeing signs of major changes and ranking shifts all throughout the month. I suspect those were tests for both this Google Spam Algorithm version 2.0 and the Panda 4.0 release.
